The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, has called for stronger collaboration among governments, regulators and private sector players to build a resilient and sustainable energy sector in Ghana.
Mr Tameklo made the call on Thursday, July 16, 2026, when he led a high-level dialogue at the opening of the 7th Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GHIPCON 2026) at the Palms Convention Centre in Accra.
He described the conference as more than an industry gathering, saying it provides a strategic platform for shaping policies, encouraging innovation and attracting investment to strengthen Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
The NPA CEO said global geopolitical tensions, climate change concerns and changing energy markets require countries to adopt stronger partnerships to protect energy security while promoting economic growth.
He reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to creating a transparent, efficient and technology-driven regulatory environment that promotes competition, protects consumers and boosts investor confidence.
Mr Tameklo said the NPA will continue to prioritise fuel quality assurance, reliable supply and regulatory excellence as Ghana seeks to position itself as a competitive petroleum hub in the West African sub-region.
GHIPCON 2026, which is being organised by the NPA, the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) and the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), has brought together policymakers, regulators, investors, development partners and industry stakeholders from across the world to discuss the future of Ghana’s petroleum sector.
