The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has claimed that development in the Volta Region stagnated after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) left office, describing President John Dramani Mahama's return to power as a major boost for the region's development.
Speaking during President Mahama's two-day Resetting Ghana tour of the Volta Region, Mr Gunu highlighted several infrastructure and development projects being undertaken by the government across the region.
According to him, the current administration has prioritised the Volta Region through investments in roads, markets, education, healthcare and other critical sectors aimed at improving the lives of residents.
"The development of the Volta Region went into a coma when the NDC went into opposition. President Mahama's second coming is a revival for the region," Mr Gunu stated.
His remarks came as President Mahama toured parts of the region to inspect ongoing projects, break the ground for the construction of 24-hour economy markets, engage traditional authorities and residents, and assess the progress of major infrastructure initiatives under the government's development agenda.
