The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an investigation into an alleged extortion involving a Customs officer stationed at the Accra International Airport.
The investigation follows a video circulating on social media by TikToker Lady Rev. Adwoa Pretty.
In the video, she alleges that a Customs officer collected GH¢600 from her without issuing a receipt.
The GRA, in a statement, said it had taken note of the allegations and had commenced investigations into the matter.
The Authority said it would update the public on its findings once the investigation is completed.
The GRA has also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining integrity, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of its mandate.
The allegation comes amid growing public scrutiny of interactions between travellers and revenue and security officials at Ghana’s entry points.
However, the GRA has not disclosed the identity of the officer involved or provided details on the circumstances surrounding the alleged payment.
The Authority said the investigation will establish the facts of the matter before any further action is announced.
