Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been charged with two counts of publication of false news and offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace.
This follows his arrest after he alleged that former President, John Mahama wanted to stage a coup in Ghana.
According to media reports, the NPP communicator made the claim on Hot 93.9 FM in Accra, while responding to the arrest of #FixTheCountry convener, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor.
He will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
Below is a copy of a statement issued by the police on Mr. Baffoe's arrest.

Sources say Abronye DC was invited by the police early this afternoon to answer questions related to his claims against the former president. But in the statement issued by the police, the NPP regional chairman failed to substantiate his claims and was subsequently arrested.
His arrest and detention follows that of the lead convener of the FixTheCountry Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor. The social activist was picked up for threatening to stage a coup if Parliament passes the controversial E-levy.
Mr. Barker-Vormawor was also facing similar charges as Abronye DC until the prosecution leveled fresh charges against him - treason felony charges.
He has since been denied his bail application and is expected to reappear in court on Monday, February 28.
