Abena Osei-Poku exchanging agreement with Amar Deep S, CEO of IPMC

Absa Bank is making commitment to improve digital skills in the country’s educational curriculum to support modernisation of the economy.

The initiative is part of the bank’s resolve to make information technology a part of the day-to-day activities of the youth.

To this end, the bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with technology firm, IPMC, to support the studies of cloud computing in the institute.

Managing Director of Absa Bank, Abena Osei-Poku, at a short ceremony to sign the agreement noted that the bank will extend the gesture to other institutions after a successful execution of the partnership with IPMC.

“Technology’s ability to transform lives, impact society, and create convenience for customers, communities and nations, is the true tenets of the 21st century. As a Bank, we seek to harness the potential of the Ghanaian youth in areas such as digital technology, STEM education, vocational and technical competencies to empower them to take control of their future, whiles supporting the socio-economic growth of the country and the African continent.”

“To bring this to life, we are engaged in numerous initiatives, including our Ready-to-Work programmes to give the youth different platforms to express themselves and take ownership of their future” she said.

She expressed delight about the agreement and called on the students to take advantage of such an opportunity to explore other innovative areas in the Information and Technology space.

“I am happy to announce our partnership with Amazon Web Services to help build the digital competencies of the youth, especially in cloud computing, and to make the concept integral in Ghana’s educational curriculum”.

The bank will begin the partnership with the training of some 10 teachers from the school to subsequently train the students.
