The Aggrieved Youth of Gbi-South are demanding justice and accountability following the deaths of David Agbebianu and Afeti Agbeko, allegedly at the hands of police officers on August 30, 2023.
The youth alleged that the incident began when police officers from the Hohoe Police Command chased a man named Tsetse Enyonam, resulting in a police vehicle crash.
The youth accuse the police of falsely blaming the community for the vehicle catching fire and retaliating with brutality.
They claimed police reinforcements arrived and began indiscriminately arresting and assaulting civilians, including teachers, looting shops, destroying property, and setting ablaze 48 motorbikes.

The use of live ammunition allegedly led to the deaths of Agbebianu and Agbeko, with stray bullets damaging property over a large area.
Despite a year passing since the incident, the youth are frustrated by the lack of government response. They demand immediate action, including:
- Consultation with the victims' families for funeral arrangements and compensation.
- Compensation for destroyed property and torture victims.
- Prosecution of the police officers involved.
- Public release of the findings from the police investigation.
- Assurance that such incidents will not recur.
The youth warn that if their demands are not met, they will escalate their actions. The community awaits the government's response, hoping for justice and accountability.
