The Director of Political Affairs at the Office of the Chief of Staff has commended President Akufo-Addo highly for the interventions and relief package government has provided during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Frank Asiedu Bekoe says government's absorption of water and electricity bills has been a huge relief to the citizenry as the pandemic affected a number of individuals and businesses.
He said this while delivering the keynote address at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Municipality Farmers Day celebration, also commended farmers across the country and the Ayawaso West Wuogon municipality for their contribution to the development of agriculture and the fight against Covid-19.
Mr Asiedu Bekoe said another reason why Ghana survived the fight against Covid-19 is because of the collaborative efforts between public-private businesses including farmers who ensured that there was an abundance of food to feed the country.

Speaking on the theme “Ensuring agri-business development under COVID-19 opportunities and challenges”, Mr Asiedu Bekoe said government could not have chosen a better theme considering the short to medium-term goals of the country.
“I find it to be very apt that this theme was chosen considering where our nation seeks to be in the short to medium term. This year has been very challenging. The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has changed all aspects of our lives not only in Ghana but globally.
“You will all agree with me that the continuation of government business can be attributed to selflessness and the commitment of our farmers who have discharged their duties amidst the difficulties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Our dear farmers too should be given recognition for discharging their duties efficiently to satisfy the Ghanaian people during these difficult times”, he said.
Mr Asiedu Bekoe also indicated that a large number of recovery rates would not have been possible if the country did not have an exceptional leader like President Akufo-Addo running affairs.
According to him, government as part of its plans has charged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to formulate agric policies to help boost the social-economic development of all assemblies.
“As part of the executive arm of government, all metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies have a mandatory role to formulate and implement sustainable agric-related policies for the socio-economic development of their various assemblies.
“It is, therefore, important for the municipalities to engage with other public and private sector entities to identify potential areas of collaboration for national agricultural development plans to be sustained," Mr Asiedu Bekoe stated.
