The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has charged four Berekum Chelsea players for misconduct following their FA Cup semi-final clash against Asante Kotoko at the Tarkwa TNA Stadium.
The players — Mizack Afriyie, Stephen Amankona, Zakaria Fuseini, and Seidu Mohammed — have been cited for breaching Article 12(1)(i) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, and Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019.
According to a statement from the GFA, the charges stem from alleged post-match conduct that brought the game into disrepute.
“It is alleged that after the match, the players approached the referees in an aggressive, angry, and fierce manner, using inappropriate gestures which constitute misconduct,” the GFA regulatory update stated.
The incident occurred after Berekum Chelsea’s narrow 1–0 defeat to Asante Kotoko, a match filled with high stakes and emotions as both teams vied for a place in the MTN FA Cup final.
The players have been given until Thursday, May 15, 2025, to respond to the charges. If found guilty, they could face fines, suspensions, or both — consequences that could significantly impact Chelsea’s preparations for the remaining domestic fixtures.
The FA Cup final is set to feature Asante Kotoko against Golden Kick FC.
