President of the Apostolic Church of Ghana, Apostle Doctor Aaron Ami-Narh, has added his voice to the calls to put an end to coups.
According to him, staging a coup d'état is not a solution to any nation’s problems.
“In talking about coup d’ etat or military takeovers in nations. I think we’ve seen a lot of that in Africa, and we all know it is never the solution to any nation’s problem,” he added.
Speaking at the launch of the Apostolic Youth Ministry, Apostle Ami-Narh urged the youth in particular not to avail themselves for such an act.
He said nations might get into problems, but there are better ways of solving them.
“If you have a democratic system that you have nurtured up to a point, you don’t want to bring in anything that will derail all the gains you’ve had.”
Apostle Aaron said he does not believe that the youth of today can easily be deceived to try and fulfill other people’s interests.
“People who come up with such things have personal interests. They want power so they come singing as if they are coming for the masses, but at the end of the day we all know what happens.
“To the youth, let us all play our role for the nation. I believe God has blessed us, we have not been able to take care of our resources well, but the future belongs to the youth. If the youth will do the right thing and utilise the opportunities being created now, this nation will have a future,” he said.
He concluded with a piece of advice to the youth of the nation, “youth is a very beautiful and enjoyable period that passes away and there are things you can do in your youth that you cannot do at a certain age, therefore, they should invest into their lives today so they can harvest in future.”
Pastor Andrews Nortey, the National Youth Ministry Leader of the Apostolic Church Ghana, spoke about the actual reasons why the Lord has called churches to develop a youth ministry.
He said, “the objectives of the youth ministry is not to sit in churches and do nice things, but the real thing is for them to be equipped to be the salt of the earth and light of the world that is ultimately what the church is about and the youth being part of the Church doesn’t end in the church but out there. The call on Christian youth is to understand that they have a big role to play”.
He cited an example of how something is given to them and how it should affect other people.
“It is like football players who have gone into the first half of their match to be loaded with a pep talk they need for their second half.
“The real thing is to receive from the church and invest in the people in places such as schools, markets, workplaces, and so on. We are supposed to make an impact. Therefore if we are failing to shine as the light of the world and salt of the earth, then we’ve really failed as Christians.
“There are a lot of young people who are into social vices not just about the church but about the future of the next generation. The future of the nation lies on the integrity of the youth we have today, therefore, if we have youth who are corrupt or are into drugs and all other social vices, then we are eroding the future of this country away,” he said.
Pastor Andrews Nortey, ended his message with a bit of advice that can guide the youth.
“Watch your steps today as a youth because whatever you invest in your lives today is what you are going to reap tomorrow. Ghana’s future relies on the youth of today, you better leave up shine and be responsible today.”
