Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, on Tuesday, June 3, announced the signing of a significant grant agreement with the government of Japan valued at ¥402 million under the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) Programme.
The agreement, which was formalised on Tuesday, June 3, represents a continued commitment by both nations to deepen cooperation in human capital development.
Dr Forson, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Government and People of Ghana, expressed profound appreciation to Japan for its longstanding and unwavering support toward Ghana’s development agenda.

He emphasised that the JDS Programme reflects a shared vision between the two countries, one that prioritises investment in people as a catalyst for national transformation.
The Finance Minister described the partnership as a meaningful demonstration of international solidarity and a practical step toward building a more skilled and capable workforce.
“This partnership is a testament to our shared vision of investing in people to drive transformation,” he noted in a post on his official social media pages.
Dr Forson also used the occasion to brief Japanese officials on Ghana’s ongoing economic recovery efforts.
He highlighted key indicators such as falling inflation, a steady reduction in public debt levels, and growing investor confidence.
These improvements, he said, are expected to contribute positively to Ghana’s sovereign credit ratings in the near future.
