Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, has expressed his gratitute to Allah, his supporters, and party members after winning the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
Speaking after the results were officially announced on Saturday, February 7, 2026, he said the victory was only possible through divine intervention, noting that the process had been demanding not just for him, but also for his family and loyal supporters.
Baba Jamal expressed appreciation to the party leadership, the presidency, members of the media, ministers, parliamentarians, and constituents who stood by him throughout the contest.
He reserved special praise for his campaign team, saying they worked tirelessly within a limited time frame to connect with delegates and present his message, adding that the campaign period was one of the most challenging moments for him and his team.
The former Deputy Minister also congratulated the other aspirants, stressing that the primary should ultimately strengthen the party rather than divide it.
He called on all contestants to rally behind a united front as the NDC prepares for the upcoming March 3 by-election.
According to him, the primary was a competitive exercise, but the focus must now shift toward maintaining the party’s hold on the Ayawaso East seat.
Baba Jamal further assured supporters that he remains accessible to all party members, including those who contested against him.
He also thanked his family for their patience during what he described as weeks of sacrifice and limited attention throughout the campaign season.
Baba Jamal secured victory with 431 votes, narrowly edging out Hajia Amina Adam, who obtained 399 votes. Mohammed Ramme polled 88 votes, Dr Yakubu Azindow received 45 votes, while Mohammed Najib recorded 1 vote.
