The Bono Regional Police command has arrested a 20-year-old young man for unlawful possession of firearms and narcotics.
Suspect Collins Kyeremeh was arrested at Odomase in the Sunyani West Municipality, presently in police custody, aiding investigations.
A statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Administration, said the suspect was arrested based on police intelligence.
It said the police conducted a search in the suspect’s residence and discovered quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp in a bag hidden on the ceiling of his bathroom.
A copy of the statement made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani said the suspect led the police to an uncompleted house around his residence, where a Makarov Pistol and four rounds of 7.62X17mm ammunition were retrieved.
It explained that the arrest was in line with the command’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on criminal activities in the region, saying the suspect would soon be arraigned before court accordingly.
