FC Samartex will consider their CAF Champions League campaign a "success" if they qualify for the group stages, according to Business Development Manager Paul Anyaba.
The Samreboi-based side will be making their maiden participation in Africa after winning the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title.
"If we get to the group stages, it will be deemed as a very successful campaign not only for the club but for Ghana. We are pushing and eyeing to get to the group stages,” Anyaba told JoySports.
The team is in Douala and continuing preparations for the clash against Victoria United in the first preliminary round of the competition on August 18.
“With Victoria and having run some investigations on the team and their performances, we feel that we are going into our debut season into the CAF Champions League but we have what it takes to eliminate them and get to the final preliminary round,” Anyaba believes.
The reverse fixture is scheduled to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium the following weekend.
The winner of the tie will face Niger’s AS GNN and Raja Casablanca of Morocco in the second round.
“We [Samartex] are mindful of the fact that if we are able to eliminate Victoria, we are meeting Raja. When we get to the bridge, we will know how to cross," Nyaba said.
