Talented Ghanaian centre-back and defensive midfielder, Michael Sefah has signed for Asante Kotoko Football Club.
The transfer, finalized on Wednesday, January 22, on the transfer deadline day, is a major boost for the Porcupine Warriors as they seek to solidify their backline for the ongoing season.
With a good physique befitting his midfield and central defence roles, he has contributed significantly to the Division One League side Port City FC, where he sometimes captained the team to great exploits.
His impressive performances were spotted by Kotoko’s technical team which moved in swiftly to negotiate with the club.
In a post on its official Facebook page, Port City confirmed the transfer and wished the player well in his new challenge.

Asante Kotoko in a statement on Thursday, January 23, 2025, announced the transfer of the 29-year-old centre-back on a one-and-a-half-year contract.
The 5ft. 83 centre-back can also operate as a defensive midfielder.
He has previously played for Liberty Professionals, now known as Hohoe United, and Medeama Sporting Club, where he gained valuable top-flight experience. Sefah is known for his composure, strength, and ability to read the game, making him a solid addition to the Kotoko squad.
Kotoko Head Coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum expressed his satisfaction with the signing, saying: “Michael is a fantastic addition to our team. His ability to play both as a centre-back and in defensive midfield gives us great tactical flexibility. He completed our centre-back options as we previously had only three senior ones in Ablorh, Samba, and Ansu. Michael’s arrival not only strengthens our defence but also provides leadership and stability, which will be crucial as we compete on multiple fronts.”

Speaking about his move, Sefah shared: “Signing for Kotoko is a proud moment for me. This is a club with such a rich history and a massive following, and I feel honoured to wear this jersey.
I know there’s strong competition for places with the likes of Ablorh, Samba, and Ansu already here, but I welcome that challenge. Competing with such quality players will only push me to work harder and be at my best. I’m ready to give my all on the pitch and contribute to the team’s success. The fans deserve nothing less than our best effort, and I’m here to deliver.”
Sefah becomes Kotoko’s sixth signing in the transfer window, joining recruits Sampson Eduku, Kwame Opoku, Kwasi Asante, Daniel Adrian Adjetey, and Isaac Mintah as the club strengthens its squad for the second half of the season.
