The Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) has expressed its commitment to weed out members who engage in unethical marketing practices.
Engaging the media after the launch of the CIMG Professional Marketing Qualifications, President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, Dr. Daniel Kasser-Tee, gave a strong indication that the license of members who are found to be in breach of good marketing ethics will be revoked and sanctioned.
“In Ghana, now that we have this bill, if you’re are practicing marketer and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana and you are found to be culpable of any offence whiles practicing your profession, the disciplinary committee will be set-up to investigate you and when you are found guilty, your certificate will be withdrawn or suspended,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Chief Director at the Ministry of Education, Benjamin Gyasi who delivered the keynote address on behalf of the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum assured CIMG of the ministry's support to enhance professional marketing in Ghana.
“On our part, the Ministry assures CIMG of the necessary support of the full implementation of this programme as it has the potential to promote collaborations within universities serving as tuition centers,” he stated.
Also at the launch of the CIMG Professional Marketing Qualifications, Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey urged CIMG to pay close attention to public sector marketing to enhance its contributions to Ghana’s economy.
“My favorite subject, of course is public sector marketing. And I hope that CIMG will pay close attention to the public sector marketing and their contribution will be great,” he added.
