The Executive Director of the African Centre for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA), Dr Rasheed Draman has reiterated calls for the Minority to rethink its strategy to cripple government’s business.
This call comes after members of the Minority on Wednesday rescinded their decision to boycott parliamentary proceedings to solidarise with their colleague, Assin North MP James Gyakye Quayson whenever he appears in court.
They have however deployed a new strategy to be set in motion soon.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story, Dr Draman advised the Minority to rethink and consider the swing voters in every decision they take.
He explained that the stance of swing voters will have a significant impact on the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) political fortunes.
Again, Dr Draman said that members of the minority "are a government in waiting with close to about 50 % chance of forming the next government, at least per numbers of the last election”, therefore the need to heed the advice.
“If I were the leadership, I will take the pulse of the nation and try and understand particularly where swing voters stand on whatever strategy that they are going to adopt,” he said.
According to him, the only way out of the current situation is for both sides of the House to engage in dialogue.
He therefore urged the leadership of the House to sit and iron out their differences, adding that the Majority side will have to reach out to the Minority.
