Aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary position, Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, has endorsed the candidacy of former President John Mahama to serve as flabgearer for the NDC come 2024.
According to him, the former President is the “super best candidate” suited to lead the party into a flawless victory in 2024.
Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, Dr. Otokunor stated that while other candidates are readying themselves to vie for the position of flagbearer, he believes the current economic situation deserves a Mahama-led administration to usher in Ghana’s recovery.
He said, “[Mahama] is the super best candidate if you ask me. There cannot be any other alternative choice apart from President Mahama in winning power in 2024. You see circumstances and situations determine the kind of leader that emerges.
“The current circumstances in the country require a President Mahama administration. The recovery that we need for the kind of deterioration and the plummeting of our resources requires a President Mahama presidency and so that one there is no two ways about that.”
He added, “Even though there is going to be a contest, people will contest, in my personal view, I think that President Mahama should be the candidate of choice for the Republic of Ghana.
“We will go to contest alright and then who emerges we will have to strategise around because the people must speak, but already the people are speaking and that’s what you were trying to say that everybody wants President Mahama.
“For those who think that President Mahama may not bring us the power, they’re the NPP because they’re scared of him.”
