The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the December 7 general elections as a pivotal moment for the nation, framing it as a battle for the "soul of Ghana" against the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The General Secretary of the party, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey noted that the election transcended ordinary politics, reflecting the frustration and disillusionment of Ghanaians with the incumbent administration.
In an interview on JoyNews' Upfront on Wednesday, he argued that the election represented a spiritual and moral reckoning for the NPP government, which he accused of inflicting widespread economic pain on the populace.
Mr Kwetey characterized the election as a spiritual battle, asserting that the NPP’s actions had created “massive vertical energy” aimed at humiliating them.
“This election was beyond politics. It was about the soul of Ghana versus the NPP,” he said, adding that the outcome reflected the collective will of a nation seeking change.
He noted that the "hand of God had long departed" from the NPP, citing the government’s failure to accept responsibility for Ghana’s economic challenges and its reliance on external excuses such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
"A government that inflicts so much economic pain, shows deception, and refuses to accept responsibility cannot expect blessings," he said.
