Alhaji Mustapha Ibrahim Ismail, the Deputy Tano North Municipal Chief Imam in the Ahafo Region has advised election stakeholders to cooperate with the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct credible, peaceful, and successful General Election.

 Describing the Election 2024 as crucial towards consolidating the gains of the country’s growing democracy, he said the EC required the support and cooperation of all the stakeholders, especially political parties, for the nation to sail through successful elections.

Alhaji Ismail, also the Acting Chairman of the Tano North Municipal Imams Association gave the advice when addressing a stakeholder meeting on a peaceful election 2024 organised by the Association at Duayaw-Nkwanta, the Municipal capital.

It was attended by representatives of the various political parties, Muslim women, and youth as well as members of the association and other stakeholders in the municipality.

He said the EC had a herculean task towards conducting free, fair, and credible Presidential and Parliamentary Election on December 7, hence the need for everybody to support the commission.

Alhaji Ismail also urged the nation’s electoral management body to continue to remain neutral in the electoral process so that the outcome of the elections would be accepted by all in good faith.

Naaba Issah Gariba, the Chief Busanga in the Municipality advised the youth especially those in the Zongo communities to remain guarded and not allow themselves to be used by political parties as conduit for political violence to disturb the prevailing peace of the nation.

Mr Seidu Iddrisu Yeboah, the General Secretary of the Association, explained that general election was only meant for the electorate to express their views on their choice of government.

“So, there is no justification for us to fight ourselves in the process of choosing our leaders,” he stated, saying the nation required leaders with integrity and honesty to push the progressing development of Ghana.

Mr Yeboah, also the Ahafo Regional Director of the Center for National Culture (CNC) therefore called on all the election stakeholders to contribute their respective roles in diligence in helping to sustain and strengthen national peace and social cohesion.
