The Democratic Forum of Medical Laboratory Professionals (DFMLP) has extended its congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, Vice President-elect Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on their decisive victory in the December 7, 2024, general elections.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Dr. Moses Kofi Woli, the DFMLP celebrated the historic achievement of Ghana electing its first female Vice President, describing the electoral victory as a monumental moment not only for the number of parliamentary seats won but also for the overwhelming margin of votes between the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The group attributed the NDC’s success to the trust Ghanaians have in Mr. Mahama’s ability to address the pressing challenges facing the country, citing the widespread economic hardships and social despair that spurred this “democratic uprising.”
The DFMLP expressed confidence in the leadership capabilities of Mr. Mahama, Professor Opoku-Agyemang—Ghana’s first female Vice Chancellor of a public university—and NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah. They urged the incoming government to prioritize fulfilling its campaign promises, including:
- Establishing a 24-hour economy.
- Launching the “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL) initiative.
- Providing free primary healthcare.
- Setting up a Medical Laboratory Science Council.
- Implementing the National Apprenticeship Program.
- Improving national infrastructure.
The DFMLP encouraged all Ghanaians to remain calm and rally behind the incoming administration to help build a prosperous nation for current and future generations.
“We believe in the honesty and integrity of H.E. Mahama and trust that he will deliver on his promises to reset Ghana and make it great,” the statement read.
The forum concluded with another round of congratulations to the incoming President and Vice President, as well as NDC Members of Parliament-elect, for their hard-earned victory.
