Coach Paul Dogboe’s first reaction to his son’s decision to part ways with him managerially is the admonition to reach for greatness.
Isaac Dogboe recently announced his decision to part ways with his father as his manager – a decision he says is free of any acrimony.
According to Paul Dogboe he gave his son the full blessings and wished him well when he (Isaac) informed him about the decision to be in his own managerially.
“I have done my part, the kid has a good foundation and has to do his best to take it from where daddy left off and go to the next level,” Paul Dogboe told Joy Sports in an interview.
Paul an ex British Army officer, guided his son to world title success in in April 2018 following the defeat of Jessie Magdaleno
“I wish him all the best. I wish him God’s blessings and everyone that comes his way should help him.”
“He has to make it because the foundation he has is good to help him. He has to have a tunnel vision focus. He has to make it,” he said.
Under this new self-managed regime, Isaac Dogboe will be responsible for negotiating the terms for his bouts with his Promoter Top Rank.
Dogboe participated in the London 2012 Olympics and turned pro afterwards. En route to winning the WBO title, he defeated the likes of John Neil Tabanao of the Philippines, Julian Aristule of Argentina, and the Mexican pair of Javier Chacon and Caesar Juarez in eliminators.
Following his back-to-back loss to Emmanuel Navarette, Dogboe made a winning return against Chris Alvalos in Las Vegas after 13 months out of the ring.
The 26-year-old is yet to announce his next fight but it is expected he will mount the ring this first quarter. Dogboe holds a record of 21 wins and two losses with 15 of the wins coming via knockouts.
