Residents of the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern region have been urged not to panic, after two Covid-19 cases were confirmed in the area this week.
The two females who contracted the disease arrived in the country from London and Holland on March 19 and 20, respectively.
Upon arrival, they were placed under quarantine by the Eastern Reginal Health Directorate and tested for coronavirus.
Their results returned positive. They add up to the 51 cases recorded in the Eastern Region.

The development has left residents in a state of panic, with many claiming the two have already infected many others in the area.
But the Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service said the claims are false.
Dr Alberta Britwum Nyarko in an interview with JoyNews’ Kofi Siaw said, the two women did not have contact with many people as has been speculated.
“Both of them are returnees that we had placed under self-quarantine and after the period, tested them and they turned out positive. They are all doing well and do not have symptoms and are still under quarantine.
“These people were under quarantine and they observed the quarantine as they were directed and they observed all the precautions and so the people of Akuapem North orth do not have any cause to worry,” she said.
She said a case management and contact tracing teams have accessed both patients individually and rounded up their contacts for testing.
“The contacts have all been tested and samples have been sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research but for the second case, some of the contacts were not on hand when we visited and so with the help of the patients themselves, we are reaching them for tests and place them under self-isolation. ”
Despite these measures, Dr Nyarko urged the resident to observe social distancing protocols and other preventive measures in order not to contract the disease, following the lifting of a partial lockdown in Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Kasoa.
