Mada Masr says that Lina Atallah was detained while conducting an interview with the mother of a leading activist and blogger, Alaa Abdel Fattah, outside the prison where he is being held.
Mada Masr says that Ms Atallah is now being held at a police station.
Last November, Lina Atallah and two other journalists were detained for several hours during a raid by the security forces on the Mada Masr office in Cairo.
