The Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has responded to individuals and groups charging party executives to release the collated result that its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama had in the 2020 presidential elections.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah in a text message to JoyNews’ Kojo Yankson revealed that the party as of Tuesday, December 8, 2020 had discovered the total number of votes garnered.
Describing the assertion that NDC has not collated its results as “absolutely preposterous”, Mr Afriyie Ankrah said “It was on the basis of those results that we detected several anomalies and infractions, and started the process of our Pink Sheet Audit which also confirmed several anomalies.”
The rift within the opposition NDC is far from over as the Jerry John Rawlings and John Mahama fractions have locked horns not only on who should lead the party in 2024, but also evaluating the values on which the party was established.
For some time now, some groups and individuals have embarked on a series of demonstrations and held forums charging the NDC leadership to produce collated figures or pink sheets of the 2020 elections.
So in his quest to set things straight, Mr Afriyie Ankrah disclosed that the collated results are available at the party’s national office and various constituency and regional office.
“I have been wondering how those asking for the Pink Sheets wants us to do. Should we mount an exhibition at circle or the Party HQRS so people would come and inspect them?”
The Elections Director further added that 99 per cent of pink sheets have been retrieved whereas, 100 per cent of them have been digitized.
“99% of pink sheets recovery is unprecedented in the History of the party, it doesn't mean the 1% Pink Sheets are missing or we do not have the results for those Polling Stations, we have all the results.
“Remember, we are talking about almost 39,000 polling stations with several copies per polling station and having to move them from their various locations across the country to Accra.”
