A 51-year-old electrician has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by the Asamakese circuit court for defrauding two persons.
He will serve his jail term in hard labour.
The convict, George Ofosu, pleaded guilty to two counts of defrauding by false pretence.
The court presided over by Abubakari Abass Adams sentenced him to one month imprisonment for count one and 12 months for count two.
The sentence will run concurrently.
According to the prosecution, the convict defrauded one Victoria Tawiah Nartey an amount of ¢360.00 under the pretence of securing an electricity meter for her.
The convict, the prosecution established, defrauded another person, Isaac Nartey at Aprokumasi, an amount of ¢1,400.00 promising him a job at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
He was, however, arrested and arraigned before the court on July 13, after the two reported him to the Police for failing to provide the meter and offering the job.
