Allegations of illegal mining activities levelled against the chairman of the National Democratic Congress in the Evalue-Gwira-Ajomoro constituency, Emmanuel Ennor Kofi have been strenuously denied by his company, which maintains that they deal in legitimate mining business.
The company, in a statement signed by Gideon Ansah Mensah, the Director of Operations, denied the reports, describing them as a complete falsehood without an iota of truth.
In the view of the company, the publications form part of calculated attempts by certain persons to soil the image of Emmanuel Ennor Kofi, who is also their Chief Executive Officer.
“Our attention has been drawn to some publications in the media claiming that our Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Ennor Kofi, has been engaging in illegal mining activities in the Evalue-Gwira-Ajomoro constituency.
“We wish to clarify that these reports are a complete falsehood without an iota of truth in them.
“Mr. Ennor Kofi is a legitimate businessman conducting legitimate mining activities in areas authorized by the Minerals Commission. Contrary to the reports, neither he nor the company has engaged in any form of mining in a forest reserve or waterbody,” parts of the statement read.
The statement further said that Mr Kofi is committed to the fight against illegal mining, urging Ghanaians to ignore what it views as malicious propaganda against the astute businessman and politician.
“As a patriotic Ghanaian and the chairman of the National Democratic Congress in the Evalue-Gwira-Ajomoro constituency, Mr. Ennor Kofi is fully aware of the commitment by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to addressing the galamsey menace, and is fully committed to this cause by His Excellency.
“We want to reiterate that these reports are untrue, unfounded, and baseless. We appeal to all well-meaning Ghanaians, particularly the good people of Evalue-Gwira-Ajomoro, to disregard the malicious and mischievous propaganda being waged against Mr. Ennor Kofi, who is an honorable man and committed to the development of Evalue-Gwira-Ajomoro.
