A family narrowly avoided tragedy on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, when their vehicle caught fire near the Peduase Presidential Lodge in the Akuapem South Municipality.
The family was on their way to escort their daughter to Benkum Senior High School.
The Mitsubishi Outlander, registered GE 3557-24, suddenly burst into flames around 6:00 p.m. while en route to Larteh.

Firefighters from the Akropong Fire Station, led by ADO I Brenya, arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed.
Initial attempts by personnel from the Peduase Fire Post managed to control the blaze by 6:18 p.m., and with support from the Aburi Fire Station, the fire was fully extinguished by 6:20 p.m.

Fortunately, the family escaped without injury, but they lost personal belongings, including a trunk and school supplies intended for their daughter.

The Ghana National Fire Service suspects the fire was caused by an electrical fault. Firefighters used the incident to remind the public about fire safety and the importance of keeping emergency numbers readily accessible.
