A fire that broke out at a residential property in Community 1, Akosombo in the Eastern Region, on Saturday, August 23 led to the complete destruction of a living room and partial damage to other parts of the house, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.
According to a Facebook post shared by GNFS, the Akosombo Fire Station received a distress call at 1:10pm on 24 August 2025, reporting a blaze at a three-bedroom home.

Firefighters, led by ADOII Dormah, arrived on the scene just ten minutes later to find flames raging through the living room and kitchen areas.

Crews battled the fire for nearly 90 minutes, bringing it under control by 2:00pm and fully extinguishing it by 2:47pm. However, at approximately 3:45pm, the fire reignited in the roof space, prompting a swift return by the fire crew.

The team, the GNFS says quickly extinguished the remnants of the blaze and remained on site, monitoring the property until 4:12pm to ensure no further flare-ups occurred.

The incident resulted in the complete destruction of the hall, while the kitchen and other sections of the house sustained partial damage.

The exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and investigations are currently underway.
