Fire has razed down a four-bedroom wooden structure at Manukrom in the Akontombra District of the Western North Region.
The incident that happened on Tuesday, March 11, destroyed everything belonging to two individuals residing in the structure.
Narrating the incident to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Mr Christopher Gyapong, Head teacher of Manukrom D/A Basic School, one of the tenants, said he heard about the sad incident when he was teaching, only to rush there to see everything he had in blazing flames.
He said the incident could be due to frequent power fluctuations in the area that sparked the fire in the house.
“I have lost everything except what I wore to class, and this is a sad moment for me,” he said.
Mr Nicholas Akwaleno, Assembly Member for Kramokrom Electoral Area, expressed worry about the incident and appealed to the government through the District Assembly for assistance for the affected individuals.
He appealed for decent accommodation for teachers to help motivate them to give their best to improve the educational performance in the community.
