Ghana exported a total of 26 metric tonnes of mangoes by road to Morocco in 2025, marking a significant milestone in the country’s agribusiness and trade relations, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, has disclosed.
According to the minister, this was the first time such a substantial quantity of mangoes had been transported from Ghana to Morocco by road, a development she described as highly commendable and economically strategic for the country.
Madam Ofosu-Agyare made the revelation on Wednesday, January 21, while addressing the nation at the Government’s Accountability Series, where she highlighted key gains made in the trade and agribusiness sectors over the past year.
"In 2025, for the first time in Ghana's export history, mangoes were transported by trucks to Morocco. We had about 26 metric tonnes transported by road. The trucks actually came all the way from Morocco to pick the mangoes."
"It means that we are doing well in this area as well," she said.
She noted that the achievement demonstrates Ghana’s growing capacity to diversify export routes and deepen regional and continental trade.
She noted that, after Ghana participated in the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, "I am happy to say that after our participation in Osaka, the Japanese state minister in charge of foreign affairs led a fifty-member investment delegation to Ghana. A direct effect of what we did in Osaka."
