The Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency, Bryan Acheampong has been honoured by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) for championing the welfare of members in the Kwahu East District.
He received recognition at the 6th quadrennial and the 53rd national delegates’ conference of the Association at Koforidua in the Eastern region
The award was to recognise his personal achievements in education since he became the MP for the area.
In a citation, GNAT expressed appreciation for the good gesture he has exhibited to benefit teaching and learning.

Since his tenure as MP, among other things, Mr. Acheampong has provided scholarships to 120 teachers to pursue a Master's degree at a cost of GHC708,000 and helped 40 teachers to pursue a Bachelor’s degree also at a cost of GHC149,855 at the Presbyterian University College and other higher learning institutions.
He set aside teachers' appreciation day for 1,600 teachers and donated to each of them, shopping vouchers worth GHC300 and a half piece of cloth.
Some selected teachers also received refrigerators and flat-screen TV sets valued at GHC82,000.

Aside from the payment of tuition fees for 375 students in the area, he has also procured and distributed 30,000 school uniforms to 15,000 school children under his two uniforms per child initiative.
The construction and rehabilitation of school infrastructures, and the distribution of 16,800 exercise books and 450 textbooks to support education in his constituency are among his many contributions to his constituents.
Receiving a citation on his behalf, District Chief Executive Officer (DCE) for Kwahu East, Isaac Agyapong, expressed appreciation towards the Association for the recognition, and promised them of the MP’s support to the people, most especially, teachers.

“Education is one of the topmost priorities of Mr. Acheampong. Whatever promise he has made to support the sector he’ll fulfill. This is just the beginning of more to come and we’re happy to know that his efforts are being appreciated” he said.
