A fire that broke out on a MAN TGX26 trailer along the Accra-Kumasi highway at Suhum Mile 44 was swiftly brought under control on Wednesday, following a rapid response by personnel from the Bunso Fire Station.
The trailer, reportedly transporting bottled water, caught fire under unclear circumstances. Firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and managed to contain the flames, successfully salvaging approximately 70 per cent of the cargo.

The incident, which occurred on one of Ghana’s busiest highways, caused a significant build-up of traffic but, fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed the event in a post on its official Facebook page, noting that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Authorities have urged transport operators and drivers to ensure strict adherence to fire safety protocols, particularly when hauling commercial goods over long distances.

The GNFS commended the efforts of the responding team for their professionalism and timely action in preventing what could have been a far more damaging incident.
