The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Russian Ambassador to Ghana, Sergei Berdnikov, over what it has described as the unlawful circulation of sexually explicit images of Ghanaian women without their consent.
In a statement dated Tuesday, February 17, the Ministry said the Ambassador was invited “on the instruction of the Minister for Foreign Affairs” to respond to the actions of a “suspected Russian national” allegedly connected to the viral leak.
According to the Ministry, the summons was to formally convey the government’s “strong displeasure” regarding what it termed the “atrocious conduct” of the individual involved.
It stressed that the act “clearly violates Ghanaian law” and indicated that Ghana is seeking the cooperation of Russian authorities to ensure justice for the affected victims.
During the meeting, Ambassador Berdnikov acknowledged “the violation of the privacy and dignity of the victims” and highlighted what he described as the broader cybercrime implications of the case.
The statement further noted that he expressed the Russian Federation’s readiness to collaborate with Ghana in addressing the matter.
However, the Ambassador stated that he was unable to confirm the nationality of the individual linked to the leaked intimate videos.
