The Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has donated 3,000 pieces of modern furniture to basic schools in the constituency as part of efforts to address the persistent furniture deficit.
The intervention is expected to improve the learning environment for pupils and reduce pressure on schools that have struggled with inadequate furniture.
Mr Ablakwa said the donation forms part of his commitment to supporting education and ensuring that pupils in North Tongu have access to a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
He noted that inadequate furniture can negatively affect pupils’ concentration, comfort and academic performance, stressing the need for continued investment in basic education.
The MP urged school authorities and beneficiary communities to take good care of the furniture to ensure that it serves pupils for many years.
Education authorities and community leaders welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and important in complementing the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and learning conditions in schools across the constituency.
