Hohoe United stunned Asante Kotoko with a 1-0 win following a brilliant free-kick from William Oduro at the Hohoe Stadium in Week 13 of the Ghana Premier League.
It did not take long for the hosts to make their intentions clear, as captain Safian Usman burst forward with pace into the 18-yard box before unleashing a drive across the face of goal after five minutes.
After putting Kotoko under the cosh, Hohoe finally broke the deadlock in stunning fashion.
Oduro produced a peach of a strike from a dead-ball situation in the 24th minute outside the box to beat Mohammed Camara, who could have done better with his positioning.
It was a much-improved second half from Kotoko in search of an equalizer as Hubert Gyau was at the heart of their attack with efforts that went wide.
Joseph Amoah also tested the palms of Hohoe goalkeeper Kweku Musah, but still no parity was restored.
There were loud calls for a handball after Adams Inusah’s shot was blocked by Solomon Adomako, but replays showed the ball hit his shoulder.
Hohoe held firm to claim three points and secure back-to-back wins in the league, which lifts them to 9th on the table with 17 points.
Kotoko are now winless in four matches and sit fifth with 21 points.
Up next for Kotoko is a home clash against Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Stadium, while Hohoe travel away to Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park.
