Asante Kotoko's head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has pledged to fix the defensive issues plaguing his side, sooner rather than later.
The Porcupine Warriors have conceded six goals in nine games including shipping in three in their last two league games.
At a press conference, Ogum addressed concerns over his team’s defensive struggles in recent games.
In response to his team's poor defensive performances, Ogum said the technical team have been actively working with the players to understand and correct their mistakes.
"We met with the entire team, including the players, and went over videos from recent games," he mentioned.
"We showed them exactly what went wrong and made sure they understood what they should have done differently. Our defensive line is strong, we showed it at the beginning of the season, but we still need to address these recent lapses, so we went through each error and pointed them out to the players."
Ogum emphasised his focus has been on making sure players learn from their mistakes to avoid repeating them.
"Football is a repetitive game," he noted, explaining that errors not corrected now could show up in future matches. "What happens today might happen again – if not in the very next game, then perhaps in the next four or five. So they must not take these mistakes lightly."
The coach added that the technical team is putting in extra effort to ensure these defensive lapses don’t recur.
“We have a lot of work to do, and we’re committed to making sure these errors are corrected,” Ogum concluded.
Kotoko are on the road to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park where they face Bechem United on Sunday.
Kotoko has yet to win a match at the venue since May 2016.
