A group calling itself Bawumia Fan Club has raised ₵50,000 to support the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in his NPP flagbearership bid.
The money was raised through contributions from all its members across the various constituencies in the country, the group said.
Vice president, Dr. Bawumia, has officially declared his intentions to run in the presidential primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The primaries slated for November 2023 will elect the NPP flagbearer for the crucial 2024 general elections.
During an event at the Cultural Centre in Kumasi, the group's National Chairman, Eric Kwabena Twumasi Ankrah, stated that Dr. Bawumia is the finest person to lead the party because of his leadership characteristics.
He stated that the vice president's humility and respect for ordinary Ghanaians naturally puts him ahead of all other candidates.
"Dr. Bawumia is very respectful and knowledgeable, he has all the qualities to lead the country," he noted.
Mr. Ankrah went on to say that the vice president has been able to embark on various projects, the most remarkable of which is his capacity to digitalize practically every sector in the country.

He concluded that none of the candidates has what it takes to compete with and defeat Dr. Bawumia.
"Bawumia helped the NPP very much with his knowledge. He opened our eyes in almost everything including elections, so he's the right person to lead the party and that matter Ghana after the 2024 elections," he indicated.
He stated that the group is willing to provide any support to see the vice president triumph.
"The money is ready, we're going to wait for them at the party’s office in Accra, immediately they return from the Kumawu by-election, we will hand over the money to him, any amount we are ready to pay for him," he added
Millicent Elizabeth Boateng, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the group, stated that the money was raised internally among their members and that people should not assume it was given to them by the vice president.

She stated that the group has long supported Dr. Bawumia and that they will go to any length to assure his victory.
"The flagbearership position is already in the hands of Dr. Bawumia, his time has reached, hence he's the best person to lead the party and also the country," she stated.
