Hearts of Oak confirm signing of Awako and four others

Accra Hearts of Oak have completed the signing of Ghana midfielder Gladson Awako, who joins on a two-year deal.

The 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winner whose contract with Great Olympics was set to run out in November this year was linked with a move to the Phobians since the end of last season.

Hearts reportedly paid Great Olympics about $15,000 for the services of Awako, who will wear the number 7 shirt for the Phobian's CAF Champions League campaign next season.

The former Olympics captain will reportedly earn about $2,500 a month at Hearts.

The 30-year-old joined the Wonder Boys in 2019, scoring 10 goals and assisting 12 in 43 games.

He is expected to play a big role in the CAF Champions League for Samuel Boadu’s men next season.

The Phobians also took the chance to announce Samartex midfielder Benjamin York, Medeama attacker Agyenim Boateng, former WAFA youngster Suraj Seidu and Salim Adams from New Edubiase.

Yorke scored 12 goals and provided 6 assists in 26 Division One League games. The pacey forward was linked with a move to Asante Kotoko earlier this year but eventually joined the Phobians.

Boateng joins Hearts as a free agent after spending the last four years at Medeama Sporting Club.

Suraj was signed from Tema United, a club he previously played for before his loan move to Division One League side Phar Rangers.

Salim Adams played in the Division One League with New Edubiase last season.
