A young importer has met a tragic end at the Golden Jubilee Terminal of the Tema Harbour after being crushed from the waist down by a container-handling machine during an offloading operation.
Eyewitnesses said the heartbreaking incident occurred when a reach stacker was reversing as part of routine port activities.
The victim, who was reportedly standing behind the machine at the time, was knocked down and fatally trapped under its massive tires.
Witnesses described the scene as horrifying, as workers and onlookers rushed to his aid but were unable to save him due to the extent of his injuries.
Port authorities and emergency responders later arrived to secure the area and retrieve the body.
