Ghanaian artiste manager, Iddriss Yussif popularly known as Ras Deportee, has open up about how his arrest following the anti-galamsey protest has shaped his perspective about life.
According to him, he has learnt to be resolute while fighting for his rights even in difficult times.
Speaking with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, he said: "I learnt that, all of us need to be vigilant and make sure that we stand for our right no matter how the situation is," he said on Hitz FM.
He reiterated his stance on the #stopGalamseynow, stating he won't keep mute on the subject.
"If you don't fight for your right today and if some of us will keep mute without saying anything, who are we", he added
He further urged Ghanaians to collectively help stop the menace of galamsey so future generations could benefit.
"I have kids, wife, siblings, mother that are relying on me, myself and everybody is there. Imagine if things are not right. Some people died and fought for us that's why we are here today", he said.
A few weeks ago, some 53 people were picked up by the police for various infractions after protesting against illegal mining in Ghana.
This caused a lot of uproar among some Ghanaians who believed the punishments meted out to the protesters were "high-handed."
Ras Deportee was among the protesters who were granted bail after being remanded for about two weeks.
