Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara has lauded President Akufo-Addo's leadership and accomplishments amidst global social and economic challenges.
He specifically commended President Akufo-Addo's dedication to regional economic integration during his tenure as chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Addressing attendees as the guest of honour at Ghana's 67th Independence Day celebration in Koforidua, Eastern Region, on Wednesday (March 6), Mr Ouattara praised President Akufo-Addo's remarkable discharge of his responsibilities.
"You did an exceptional and outstanding job and I did not want you to leave…I wanted you to continue for many, many years."
He emphasised the strong bonds of geography, history, friendship, and culture shared between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, expressing "great joy" in joining the celebration.
He commended the friendship and solidarity between both nations, expressing gratitude to Ghana's leadership for their contribution to the success of the 2023 African Cup of Nations hosted by Côte d’Ivoire, which concluded in February 2024.
Additionally, he praised Ghana for its leadership in demonstrating the path to "independence, dignity, and pride" over the past 67 years.
The 67th Independence Day celebration, themed "Our Democracy, Our Pride," underscored the nation's enduring commitment to multi-party democracy throughout its history.
