Ghana's Afua Asantewaa is expected to break the longest singing marathon by an individual, which lasted 105 hours.
She has thus kicked off her singing to beat the record in a nearly five-day event that started exactly at 12:00 am from today, Sunday, December 24th to December 27th, 2023.
According to her, this is a fine opportunity to sell amazing Ghanaian music to the world.
Afua has promised to perform strictly local music throughout her record-breaking attempt.
The event is expected to attract thousands of music lovers and well-wishers to Akwaaba Village in solidarity for their compatriots and to also be part of history-making.
Miss Asantewaa said that among other things, she is required to film all the practice and preparations she is making, including interviews, and add to the actual attempt video as part of the evidence.
For the attempt itself, the young lady says she is allowed to sit, stand, and lie down as long as she is singing; it does not matter.
Unlike music shows, Miss Asantewaa said that she cannot jam to the songs like musicians do; she cannot hum the songs, and there will be no drumming either. She can also talk in between songs.
She's doing this in collaboration with Joy Prime as the official media partner. The collaboration is expected to elevate the marathon’s visibility and offer an immersive experience to audiences across the world.
This partnership brings a unique blend of entertainment and the best of media coverage to the much-awaited musical extravaganza.
Joy Prime will provide uninterrupted streaming across social media as well as unparalleled TV coverage for the sing-a-Thon attempt.
