Asante Kotoko Deputy Accra Representative, Nana Kwame Dankwah, has urged fans to be calm as the club makes arrangements pay a $240,000 fine imposed by FIFA before the deadline.
The Porcupine Warriors have until May 17, 2020, to pay the said amount else will be banned from signing new players locally or internationally.
FIFA's Disciplinary Committee fined Kotoko for the illegal transfer of striker Emmanuel Clottey in 2015, who was then with Esperance. Kotoko thus must pay $240,000 to the Tunisian club.
“Our supporters should remain calm. There is no cause for alarm. In fact, the Chairman is just organising himself to pay the money,” Nana Kwame said Saturday on Joy FM's Sports Link.

Earlier this week, Kotoko supporters had requested to organise a fundraising to help pay the fine but management declined.
Nana Kwame explained that the management does not want to burden the supporters amid coronavirus crisis in the country.
“The supporters front even wrote to management for permission to organise fundraising but looking at the situation [vis-à-vis Covid-19], people are not working. So, taking money from fans is not appropriate."
