President John Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling corruption, both from the past regime and within his own government.
Speaking during his 'Thank You' visit to the Central Region on Thursday, February 6, he stated that his government will work tirelessly for the benefit of all Ghanaians, not just a privileged few.
He stressed that this commitment cannot be fulfilled without ensuring full accountability to the people who entrusted him with power.
The President stated that the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee is set to present its report next week.
He indicated that findings will be forwarded to the relevant investigative organisations to commence inquiries into individuals who have misappropriated the nation’s resources.
"I will refer it to the investigative organisation to start their investigation against people who have misappropriated the resources of this nation," President Mahama stated.
The President announced plans to implement a strict system of accountability and introduce a code of conduct for individuals in positions of trust.
He made it clear that his administration will not only hold officials from the previous regime accountable but will also demand the same level of integrity from his appointees.
“As we investigate those who have just left office, and we carry out our Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), those who are current office bearers should also know that they will be held to the same standard as we are holding the past regime," he said.
