The Wa Circuit Court presided over by Justice Baah Forson Adjapong has sentenced a 23-year-old man to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour for robbery.
Godsguide Donatus Chinedu, together with a colleague who is currently at large, robbed their victim, Musah Adams, of his Itel-S-11 mobile phone and ¢50 at gunpoint on May 24, 2019.
The culprit was later arrested after Mr Adams assisted the police in its investigations. The accused was later arraigned before the Wa circuit court in October 2019.
Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Martin Degbortse, informed the court that Mr Adams surrendered his possessions when attacked, knowing well he had identified one of the armed robbers.
The accused persons then bolted after collecting the items in the aforementioned paragraphs.
Mr Chinedu, after being picked up, was charged with robbery.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.
After almost 21 months of trial where two witnesses were called by the court, and the prosecution team also cross-examined the accused person, Justice Baah Forson Adjapong found Godsguide Donatus Chinedu guilty charge.
