The Manhyia South MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has criticised the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, accusing him of applying selective standards in the prosecution of corruption-related cases.

Speaking in an interview on Citi FM, the lawmaker argued that all public office holders must be subjected to equal legal scrutiny, regardless of their political affiliation.

He stressed that accountability in the use of public resources should never be influenced by party loyalty.

Mr Baffour Awuah claimed the Attorney General undermined this principle when he entered a nolle prosequi to discontinue cases involving members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who were already on trial before the change of government.

According to him, the decision raised serious concerns about fairness in the administration of justice.

“If you decide to let one go and prosecute the other simply because the person you let go belongs to the same political party, then you have failed from that very day,” he said.

He added that where there were genuine grounds for discontinuing cases, the matters should have been allowed to proceed through the courts to their logical conclusion.

The Manhyia South MP warned that selective prosecution weakens public trust in the justice system and threatens the credibility of democratic governance.

He insisted that the handling of public funds must be examined without discrimination, noting that consistent accountability is essential to preserving the integrity of Ghana’s legal and democratic institutions.
