A Marriage and Relationship Counsellor and Resident Pastor of Universal Gospel Center, Reverend Daniel Annan, has stressed that marriage is ordained by God and meant to reflect His nature and glory.
According to him, couples must understand the divine purpose of marriage and build their unions on firm principles to succeed.
“The purpose of God for marriage was that God will manifest himself through us. So in essence, marriage is supposed to reflect who God is and the glory thereof”.
He made the remarks on Joy Prime’s Let’s Talk show during a discussion centred on a woman who misunderstood marriage.
Reverend Annan noted that a strong marriage is built on several pillars, including the God factor, vision and purpose, communion, communication, and joy.
“Every marriage must stand on certain pillars”.
He added that understanding one’s personal purpose is crucial in choosing the right partner and avoiding difficulties in marriage.
“If you don’t know what you are up for. You would definitely choose the wrong partner and then you crush”.
Reverend Annan also highlighted what men genuinely seek from their partners, namely a helper, good sex and wise counsel.
“First understand the need of a man. That’s number one. Number two, every man is looking for a helper genuinely”.
He further emphasised the importance of effective communication in relationships, advising women to approach their partners with appreciation rather than anger.
“I love the way you do things you are a man by a great man, but you know something, I wish if you could do it this way or add this one to it, just leave it to the man he will reason”.
On the issue of submission, Reverend Annan said it remains a key aspect of marriage, explaining that men were “put there first to take the lead.”
“It doesn’t matter who you are. You were brought from here. You can never be equal to a man. No”.
He added that even if a woman is financially supporting the family, “He’s still the man”.
Fundamentally, Reverend Annan stressed the importance of understanding God’s purpose for marriage and building a strong foundation on biblical principles.
According to him, doing so will enable couples to navigate the challenges of married life and reflect God’s glory.
