The Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to reconsider the mass dismissals of government employees, warning that the decision has significantly eroded public goodwill towards his administration.

Speaking in an interview with Metro TV on Friday, 28th February, the former Deputy Minister for Education criticised the terminations, stating that they have caused hardship for many families and weakened public trust in the government.

“The goodwill that the Mahama administration enjoyed at the beginning is quickly diminishing due to these unnecessary mass dismissals. This is not the change Ghanaians expected,” he stated.

Rev. Ntim Fordjour urged the president to rescind the decision and focus on fostering an inclusive and stable working environment.

He argued that a government should build upon existing structures rather than disrupt livelihoods through politically motivated terminations.

“Leadership should be about continuity and progress, not vindictiveness. If this administration is serious about national development, it must reverse these dismissals and focus on creating jobs,” he added.

He further called on President Mahama to take immediate steps to restore fairness and stability in the public sector, cautioning that the continued job losses could lead to widespread discontent among Ghanaians.

“Rescinding these terminations is the right thing to do. It will not only restore hope but also demonstrate true leadership and a commitment to the well-being of the people,” he emphasised.
