Medeama Sporting Club won their first Ghana Premier League title following their 3-0 victory over Tamale City at Akoon Park on Sunday, June 11.
The Mauve and Yellows needed just a draw to lift the league title heading to the final game of the season as they already commanded a three-point lead at the top of the table.
However, a Jonathan Sowah hattrick meant Evans Adotey's side secured all three points and became champions of Ghana's top flight for the first time in their history.
Sowah opened the scoring after just six minutes to light up the stadium before getting his second in the 67 minutes of the encounter.
With 14 minutes away from full-time, Sowah scored once again to put the game to bed while sending Tamale City to relegation.
The Tamale-based club make a quick return to Division One League football after only securing a promotion at the end of last season.
Present at the Akoon Park to watch the encounter was four-time Ghana Music Awards Song Writer of the Year, Kofi Kinaata, who was spotted in his colourful Medeama jersey.
