Students from the Awudome Senior High School in the Ho West District and St Paul's Senior High School in the Ketu South Municipality have responded positively to calls from MTN Ghana to help save lives by donating blood to the blood Bank in the region.

The students who were passionate about the exercise noted that it is in the right direction to help save lives. 

According to the students, it is necessary that everyone shows readiness and compassion towards blood donation.   

They urged other students to also actively take part in such social activities in order to help them become better and responsible adults. 

"It is very important that we help save lives of our loved ones by donating blood every year because the lives of everyone is very important," a student said. 

The team lead for the MTN Volta Region, Mawuli Katahena stated that MTN has helped mobilise donors of blood for the blood bank over the years.

Mr Katahena stated that the blood bank requires assistance from institutions and organizations in mobilizing people to donate blood in order to save lives.

He added that MTN Ghana is passionate about the health of the people of Ghana hence their continuous efforts.

Mr Katahena said with MTN Ghana, it has been more than a social responsibility, but rather the human sympathy and passion to help save precious lives. 

He noted that MTN Ghana is committed to making sure that the health needs of the good people of Ghana is given the maximum attention.

Mr Katahena urged residents to make it a habit to help in the blood donation exercise to save lives.

Blood coordinator for the Awudome Senior High School, Francis Ofori noted that the students over the years have been more than willing to, and passionate about blood donation, hence has become a yearly ritual for the school. 

The team lead for the Ho Teaching Hospital, Dr Ken Mensah reiterated the need to have enough blood in the blood bank to help, especially in emergency cases.  

About 300 students donated blood to achieve the estimated 300 pints of blood. 

The blood donation exercise organised by MTN was in partnership with the Ho Teaching Hospital.
